Problem is, Curse isn't great for setting up, it gives the opponent time to set up. Status Condition, Spikes, StealthRocks, Toxic Spikes Taunt, Trick for a choice item, and of course Roar/Whirlwind/Red Card. In order to get enough defense up, Snorlax would need 3 curses. GThis gives time for a switch out. I could bring out my Vaporeon, pack up 2 Acid Armors, and baton pass over to my Breloom. With +4 Defense, he would be able to take a hit from a +3 Snorlax, and would then proceed to start up the sub-focus punch combo. Belly Drum, while harder to set up, gives a 1-turn +6 attack, which doesn't give the opponent time to switch out, or set up. They HAVE to have a sweeper, capable of doing 250 damage to snorlax (who has defence and special defence EVs) in one turn. And snorlax is scheduled to go boom either on the last turn of trick room, or the turn after that. 3 kills is enough to mess up any strategy the opponent packs. Oh, and if the opponent has a sweeper out, I generally don't blow up my Bronzong, and use him to set up a second trick room later. |

Guess I can't really say anything about that. I never really liked baton pass teams (Effin blaziken). I didn't notice the acid armor on Vaporeon, which changes a lot. I feel like a few tanks would be able to take it on though, an Air Ballon'd Excadrill or a Conkuldurr (probably spelt that wrong). Anything with Roar/ Whirlwind destroys your team though (my lead -- Swampert) |

Not necessarily. Whilst my team does make good use of Roar/Baton Pass, It doesn't necessarily rely on it. If said Excadrill did come out, I would switch out Snorlax, for later use. Even if I can't set up a second Belly Drum, Snorlax is still quite powerful, and should be able to kill with Double Edge and Selfdestruct. Vaporeon should be able to 1-hit it. Vaporeon has some good special attack, and with STABed Surf, super effective, and Excadrill's lack of special defence, I'm not hopeless. Remember, Trick Room is the backbone of my team. The highest speed on my team is Breloom, and he doesn't even have 300. As long as I can get a Trick Room up, I have free reign of the match. Even without, Breloom will outspeed most, and nearly always kill, or force a switch. It'd have to be a roar-based team to have a chance of winning (ie at least 3 of them pack that move), and Togekiss and Breloom (roar = free spore) would be able to do some good sweeping. And if I have him in, Lucario can take advantage with roar, with Close Combat. Edited by Dramz, Mar 31 2011, 04:32 AM.

Couldn't you guys just have both sides and maybe spectators save logs instead of having judges? |

Subs are a requirement. Dragonite is also banned according to Yatterman's ban list because the sum of its base stats exceed 600. |

Lol, bad reasoning. Reference: Bulbapedia. Dragonite's Base Stats: HP: 91 Attack: 134 Defence: 95 Special Attack: 100 Special Defence: 100 Speed: 80 Total: 600. If Dragonite is banned by that logic, so are all the other pseudos, legendaries with over 600, and Slaking. If you ban him because he is a Dragon Dancer, ban all the pseudos who can learn that move. Might as well ban Kingdra. Kingrdra is (imo) the best DDer. |

It's not at the site. It's Yatterman-2's, the user who started this thread and the tournament, ban list. The ban list is just for this tournament. Make sure to read the entire thread. I apologize for the inconvenience of not having the list easily accessible, but it will be in the near future once it becomes finalized. |

Yep, unfortunately, that's how Torch wants it. I don't see what the big deal is about the pseudos (Smogon knows what they're doing, they ban and allow Pokemon for specific reasons; if, for example, Salamence is allowed, then that should be how it is because it can now easily be countered in the Gen. 5 metagame), but he started the tournament, so there you go. Hm, you can count me in this tourney, but I won't put my team here since the ban list isn't finished. |

Hey, sorry for being inactive for a while, my internet gone haywire. Anyways, are we still reaching for 16? I haven't been exactly up to date (my net goes haywire on the day i planned to post my invitation on Smogon and it's still not fixed up to now.(I'm in through an external connection.) Anyways, the current Ban List is Ubers and pseudo-legends? or plain anything that hits 600 after a stat boost? |

So....Everyone? Belly Drum will pretty much throw anyone to over 600. Spiritomb will get to lie 580 after a nasty plot, and he isn't even a sweeper. Rampardos....God only knows. We can't ban based on stat boosts. |

Maybe he meant a single stat boost, but it would be still weird to ban by that.

He is saying that basically, anyone with over 400 of any stat except for HP should be banned...Electrode is hardly overpowered. Rampardos needs a very good setup to be able to take out more than 1 opponent...maybe Agility, Acid Armor, Baton Pass (Vaporeon can learn those moves...hint). Cloyster and Shuckle come close to getting there without a stat boost, but they aren't overpowered. That rule would just be stupid. Edited by Dramz, Apr 7 2011, 04:23 PM.

@Conversation above: No, the ban is unrelated to stat boosts or single stats at all. It bans all Pokemon that feature the sum of its BASE STATS exceeding 600. Take Salamence for example. http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/salamence Its base stats are: HP 95 Atk 135 Def 80 SpA 110 SpD 80 Spe 100 Since they exceed 600, Salamence is therefore banned. The sum of Salamence's base stats is EXACTLY 600, it does not exceed 600. One of the conditions for a pokemon to be a pseudo is that the sum of its base stats is exactly 600. If Salamence is banned, then Dragonite, Tyranitar, Metagross, Garchomp and Hydreigon are also banned. And Slaking. Also Celebi Cresselia Darkrai Deoxys Genesect Heatran Jirachi Landorus Latias Latios Manaphy Meloetta Mew Shaymin Victini As all of them have the same base stat total as Mence. Or, you could just ban the ubers, and all dream world abilities. |

Doing that would ban half of then gen 5 meta, and would require TREZ to make a new meta just for this tournament. =/. Talking about the dream worlds at least. Edited by Yes, Apr 8 2011, 03:57 AM.
