I've also found the routine that deals with enabling chip charging. This large routine only checks whether the current chip CAN be charged. Again, the Crosses have their chip charge element hardcoded into the ROM. The routine starts at 08013236 for both games. Again, there is a limited number of "slots" you can use. However with chip charge effects working differently for various crosses, every slot's routine is a tad different.

Spoiler: click to toggle

I'll see if I can make an ASM for this and element chip powerups, so that EVERY cross can have one.
Sorry for double post, but I have to, so have Prof.9 found a way to separate them?

Separate what?

There's been an ASM hack for this since July. http://s6.zetaboards.com/The_Rockman_EXE_Zone/topic/8663078/1/

Oh, you made it into a whole guide. That's awesome. I never expected this much flexibility. Now I really think we can start looking into the abilities of crosses. It doesn't seem too hard.

Also, I think I should post this here. I found it while trying to find this myself and its really neat.

Push Select for Navi Change
D2000000 0004
3203F55C 00XX

If you hold select after you exit the custom screen, you'll turn into any Navi before the battle resumes. Everything works perfectly fine except that the results screen freezes the game.
Maybe I found this too late, but there is a mistake.
The code should be,
D0000020 0004
3203F55C 00XX

Wait, now I find a bug...........if your cross cancelled by hitting weakness, your cross will be still there??? You can chose it again!

Not just if you get weakness knocked out. My guess is changing it breaks the routine that removes cross selection.

That's... interesting because I fixed a bug like that on the first page.

I'll have another look.

This?

MIXED CROSSES mod
08028ADA 68 76 50 34 28 5D
08028AE0 22 49 08 5C A8 76 C0 46
08028B6C xx xx xx xx

EDIT: Tried, still have that bug.
EDIT2: Okay it worked, but now the problem for the emotion window.
When I chose the cross in the cross selection, the emotion window is wrong, but when battle start, the window is correct.
EDIT3: Beat me, I just forgot to change some value to 00 >_> ignore me.

I have just tested on both Falzar and Gregar using only what was in the first post. It works perfectly for me. Crosses disappear if you switch to another one. Crosses disappear if you get knocked out of them.

If you get this "bug" it's probably caused by having entered a value incorrectly or something.

Alright, this time is real.
I got the problem with beast out with you are in a cross.

Example: Use Elec cross to beast out and it will be Heat beast.

EDIT: I found the problem.

"08029F64 00"

You can't change this, cuz this byte is a part of a offset

Use the LATEST version of the mixed crosses hack. Use ONLY what's in the FIRST post.

You keep reporting bugs I fixed ages ago.

I wonder if you've worked on removing the check on Megaman's chargeshot. I don't want to rush you but you said it as if you were putting it off, meaning you knew how to do it.

Oh, right. I said I'd remove it, didn't I?

Does this work for you (use 8-bit notation)?:

<removed>

It makes the game treat MegaMan as a Cross (but only when it comes to Buster settings). Hopefully, it has no side effects. Please report if you do notice something out of the ordinary.

EDIT: Actually, I'll try to come up with something better.

EDIT2:

Try this (for Falzar, not sure if it works for Gregar):

0800FEEC: 18 B5 3C 4B
0800FEF0: AC 6D 2C 21 03 F0 3E FC 00 28 29 D1 1D F0 9A F9
0800FF00: 09 28 03 D1 44 21 03 F0 35 FC 00 E0 18 78 20 71
0800FF10: 04 21 03 F0 2F FC 00 28 00 D1 98 78 A0 71 05 21
0800FF20: 03 F0 28 FC 01 28 00 D1 D8 78 00 F0 3E F8 39 21
0800FF30: 03 F0 20 FC FF 28 00 D1 58 78 60 71 07 21 03 F0
0800FF40: 19 FC FF 28 00 D1 18 79 20 72 58 79 60 74 18 BD
0800FF50: 06 22 50 43 1B 18 19 68 61 60 19 79 00 E0 06 E0
0800FF60: 21 72 59 79 61 74 D8 78 00 F0 1F F8 18 BD 18 B5
0800FF70: 2C 21 03 F0 FF FB 00 28 B9 D0 18 BD

I decided to just rewrite the routine a little to change MegaMan's default settings, but not affect any other stuff. After making these changes, you can set the Buster settings for normal MegaMan as you would with any other form.

EDIT3: Realized I forgot about something, I'll go fix it.

EDIT4: Updated and should now be working perfectly.

Brian:
What do you mean, "what check"? You know which one. The one that prevents Megaman's chargeshot from being changed ._.

Prof. 9:
On another note, thanks a lot, Prof. 9. I knew you'd have it =D

Actually, it IS glitching still; For some reason GroundCross's regular buster is TenguCross's Left+B, and TomahawkCross's regular buster is its chargeshot; also, that chargeshot doesn't work and neither does TomahawkBeast's buster.

Oh, snap. Looks like I made a very dumb oversight that creates a situation where a 32-value is loaded from an address that isn't 32-bit aligned. Only half of the crosses works right. The other half is glitchy. I'll get that fixed.

EDIT: This should work:

0800FEEC: 18 B5 3C 4B

Oh I found a small bug, which is the description of the cross, all become the first cross's description.
You might don't have to fix that though.
