Alright, I think I'll work on Save Encryption after the Chip Trader stuff, then I'll get to the rest of the ideas. Thanks guys. Feel free to keep posting ideas, I'll get to them eventually. Edit: Correction to chip list data, the data for each chip is 6 bytes. I'm gonna post all of this in it's own topic when I'm done. Edit 2: With that mistake clarified I easily figured out the chip data. Take a look at the first entries at 804B070: 01 00 00 01 02 1A Like I said before, the first two bytes are the chip ID. This is little-endian (stored backwards) so the chip ID is 0001. Looking at the chip list, 0001 is Cannon. So what are these next 4 bytes? The possible chip codes! (00=A, 01=B, 02=C,... 19=Z, 1A=*) So that means this first entry is Cannon A/B/C/* ! Now the second entry: 02 00 0B 0C 0D 1A Like before the chip ID is 0002, so HiCannon. The chip codes correspond to L/M/N/*. Both these match exactly with Terrance's guide! The chip list is just these 6 byte entries until you hit one where the first two bytes are zero, that signifies the end of the list. With this info you should be able to hack the first chip trader results! I'm working on figuring out where the lists are for the other traders, then I'll figure out the more complex stuff like the rarities. Final Edit: I just changed the first few bytes of the chip list data to 2D 01 00 01 02 1A 00 00. This should make it ONLY give Bass chips with code A/B/C/*. It does exactly this, except it corrects the chip code when you actually get the chip. Edited by Spikeman, Feb 8 2010, 07:53 PM.

That's awesome. It makes complete sense now. Great work. There should be an editor out soon. How are the other result pools found? |

Thank you for explaining my question Spikeman, and I use digiti for each zero cause I always forget the difference between byte and bit |

Yeah, that. sorry I wasn't clear. It'd really help with the production of "custom" crosses, if the sprites don't have to be built around megaman's stance. |

Maybe inserting objects into maps or turning objects into different objects, like making a functional copybot in ACDC town! Because I used to think a long while back that after you beat the game if you killed all the evil navis you got to freely use a copybot, boy was I wrong. |

I know your overly busy but it'd help greatly to have a method to edit the natural ability a cross/navi has when you play them. Like their elemental weakness, the A charge ability, what chips they power up, and hidden NCPs they auto equip and stuff like that. |

Just wondering but where did you learn ASM language and why did you learn it in the first place? Becuase I'm pretty sure you didn't learn a computer language just for rom hacking. Although now I'm pretty tempted to do that

Well, I'd like to know something now. Spikeman, if it's possible, can you tell me how to edit walls in MMBN6? MegaRock once told me that its located at the RAM of the GBA ROM, I studied many FF's, but neither I nor him knows how to alter the walls. Can you figure out how to do this? |

Well I originally learned Z80 ASM so I could program better games for my TI-83 calculator. I really liked coding in Z80 since it was a great challenge. ARM ASM (what the GBA uses) I did learn specifically for ROM hacking. ![]() I learned ARM by reading the actual ARM datasheet (basically the instruction manual for the ARM chip) and GBA specific stuff by reading the leaked GBA hardware info sheet. If you'd like to learn some assembly here are the documents I'd start with: http://www.romhacking.net/docs/286/ http://www.romhacking.net/docs/228/ http://www.romhacking.net/docs/217/ Those are mostly reference guides for ASM. This the only real guide on debugging for GBA there is: http://www.romhacking.net/docs/361/ Like I said before (maybe in another topic?) if you're seriously interested in ASM read through those documents and see if you can figure a few things out with VBA-SDL-H. If you think you can handle ASM contact me and I'll see if I can help you further. Note: ASM (especially ARM) is really easy to understand if you have a little programming experience. Even if you don't, if you are decent at math it isn't that difficult. The main problem is that there isn't much documentation of helpful guides so you mostly have to figure things out on your own (and honestly this is the best way to learn ASM anyways). Everyone else, I've noted your ideas. Here's my "to hack" list, let me know if I missed anything: * PAs * library data * save data * mystery data data * crosses * wall data This is in the order of things I want to work on, but if more people want a certain thing I can move it up the list. (Wall data is only last just because it is really difficult, I actually started working on figuring it out before and temporarily gave up. I have slightly more skill now so I should be able to crack it in the end, don't worry. )

All it does is lets you use megaman in the overworld (at least when I last used it) it didn't actually made a functional copybot from what I remember, I'll go look at it again. BTW THanks spikeman for the links! So ASM isn't really a single language, when I saw the the GBA Programming Manuel I was all O_O for two things, the fact that it had 171 pages, and the second page... I know, but I was talking about object changing in general, kind of like making a new place to jack-in, or moving jack-in places, something along those lines. |

No ASM is more like a category of languages. ARM is the specific one that GBA uses. I use ARM and ASM interchangeably because most of you wouldn't know what ARM is :P. ARM is sort of special in that there are actually two different versions of it in one. One is just called ARM (confusing I know) and the other is called THUMB. Except for high-level stuff (like graphics mainly) almost all the code you will ever need to know is THUMB. I've barely ever used ARM. Here's a slightly easier to understand reference just for THUMB: http://nocash.emubase.de/gbatek.htm#thumbinstructionsummary |

Finally my first find with the debugger. Here is how the color for Megaman is determined for use with a cross. 080203EA There is a 00 value followed by other values. This is the value of the color to be used for crosses. It starts with Heat Cross, then Elec Cross and so on until Dust Cross. Megaman has many unused colors so it's possible to use a custom palette. |

What about those programs for... BN you had posted in the old hacking guide for BN6. You left before we could request them from you. |
| I run a Mass Effect 3 modding site named ME3Tweaks.com that details how to mod ME3 as well as showcasing mods for the multiplayer aspect of the game. I also developed a mod manager utility as well as an online mod creation tool named ModMaker. | |
