Ever wanted to change names of chips but couldn't put what you want because it won't fit? This program gets rid of those problems. They're my 3 programs of awesomeness.

Get them first:
http://www.box.net/shared/z90h3qe90g

Inside are 3 programs that do different things. The first one you'll want to use is the Text Dumper/Patcher.
It looks like this when open.

First up is to dump the messages you want to edit. Check off the ones you want and click the Dump Selected button. It will ask to select your rom. Only BN6 Falzar is supported!!
Then you have to pick a folder to save them in. You can save them right on your desktop or make a new folder for them. After that, dumping is done.

Now that you have your files you can edit them using the other 2 tools.
You can edit everything with Text Expand except the 2 description files. The Description Editor can edit the 2 description files only. Don't mix them up!

Try using Text Expand first. It looks like this when you open a file:

The program lists all the names inside chip_names1.dmp. You can double-click on a name and a box comes up. Here you can type the new name you want to use. Chip names MUST be 8 characters long at maximum. You can't have 9 characters or your game will screw up. If you edit a name, the name turns light blue on the list. If a name is 9 characters long, the name will turn green. This is just warning you. You can have 9 characters for Virus/Navi in-battle names found in the virus_names.dmp and navi_names.dmp. If the name turns red this means its over 9 characters and won't work. It is advised that you change it. And just a little note. When you open chip_names2.dmp for the first time, you'll notice that "BoomrArmSyncTrgr" is taking up one box. Do not edit this. When you save the file, the program will fix this bug left in by the developers. You can edit it after you fix it.

When you're done, click the Save button and save it somewhere else. You should not overwrite your original until you know it works. Done with that? Now try Description Editor.

Description editor looks like this when you open a description file with it:

It's very similar to Text Expand. Double-click the description you want to edit. (click on the letters)
A box comes up. The button in the middle adds the square character that represents the line break used in the game. You can't move them around so you kind of have to use the button if you're making a new description. Descriptions are different from others. One line can take 9 characters. The program will warn you if you reached the limit. And obviously max 3 lines. Edited lines turn light-blue. You can push Ctrl+Spacebar to duplicate the selected description below. That makes editing those series-descriptions easier. You can save the file and close the program (you can't overwrite the file you're editing)

Now back to Text Dumper/Patcher. Check the boxes of the files you want to put in the game. Click the Patch Selected button to continue. First you will have to select your BN6 rom. A box will ask you if you want to back up your rom first. If you don't have back ups, do so now. The program will back up your rom before continuing. Then it will ask for the files to patch. Check the "files of type" region at the bottom of the window. It will let you know what file you must find. After selecting it, it will ask you to type in an offset for the new data. You MUST have expanded your rom beforehand. Use HxD to find the right spot for the new data. Offsets cannot have 08 in front of them like you're used to in VBA.

After that, just select the remaining files until you're done. The program automatically adds the right amount to the offset so you don't have to worry about it again. When you see the words "Done", you're done. Now go try out your game and see if it worked!

If there are any bugs or errors, please post them here. It can help improve the program for everybody.

Don't mind, watashi!
Does it work the same with the others?
For example, Navi names?

Credits to PreacherDudeRox for the signature. It's beautiful, and nostalgic.

So, I wish, next time whenever GM will make a new program, he will PM me, so I'll add link to it to TREZ Programs list. Not to mention, that topic should be in different forum or at least that different forum should have a shadow link here.

If this is for the patching step, pretty much any free space.
