.:Official Hacked Battle Contest V:.

It's the fifth contest already. It has similar rules to contests in the past.
Basically the contest is to see who can make the best and most difficult (and defeatable) moveset for one of three Navis. Those Navis are MagnetMan, PlantMan, and IceMan. (notice how MagnetMan couldn't be used in a previous contest)
I will provide those sprites so you may use in the game.
Download Magnetman sprite Download Plantman sprite Download Iceman sprite
And a mini-guide on how to use the sprites:
Spoiler: click to toggle Mini Guide Now suppose you wanted to use Plantman. This process only involves VBA because we will be doing a temporary insertion. You can do the steps using HxD for a permanent result. Open up VBA and get to the load option on the Memory Viewer. Get Plantman's dump file and click OK. You can import it anywhere you have empty room (assuming you've doubled your rom space) The import offset has to be in the empty space like 08A00000. Add a 4 to your offset to make assigning it easier. So I would use 08A00004. Go to the sprite list at 08031CEC. The first offset in the memory is Megaman's battle sprite. Farther down the list you can replace one of the two white dots. I highlighted it. Make the offset 08A00000. Now it's assigned to the 0D value in the 00 sprite category. When you hack the AI, change the sprite value from the original to 0D00. These changes are discarded when you close the emulator.
Contest starts on 8/10/09. Pick one and put them in BN6. You will create a fitting moveset and record the battle where you must win. You can use any move from the move list in the Navi Hacking sub-guide. 1 entry per person and max 3 entrants. That way, all 3 Navis can be used. If there are 6 entrants for some reason, them there will be 2 entries per Navis so it stays even. If this is the case, round 1 begins in eliminating 3 entrants. Then the final round determines the winner. If there are only 3 entrants, it goes straight into the final round.
For entries, there will be an entry forum like last time. Post a memory dump of the moves you used (specify the offset for the data in the filename) and your video when you can.
1st place winner gets a special present from the forum Staff and changes the order in which the Navis will be presented in the final episode of the New Crisis!! Winner's Navi will have the bigger role.
2nd and 3rd place can still have their Navi featured. All entrants will get credit in the end anyways.
Contest will end on 8/18/09 so there's plenty of time. If there are enough entrants, then 8/15/09 will begin round 2 and all entries can be posted on that date. If there are 3 entrants, then the winner will be decided on 8/19/09 and videos will be posted the day before. Expect your entries to be featured in this month. That is what I'm going for.
Any questions can be asked now. There is plenty of time.

You basically need the Navi Hacking Guide which has been kindly rewritten by someone else. It still works and doing the contest is still possible.

I've never done anything like this, but I'm in. I'll take Iceman if I'm allowed. Mind if I use one of the sprites in my patch as well?

Contest starts on 8/10/09.
So basically we don't need to submit our entries until 8/15? Since there seem to be enough for two rounds. Or do we submit them on 8/10 since that's when the contest begins? I just want to be sure about how much time I have.
(Also I'm using Iceman)

Yes it is. All sprites have plenty of frames so many attacks can still work.
Entries can be submitted whenever you want. They will be anonymous.
