Here is my current progress on the BN2 Hacking Guide. The format is exactly the same as BN3s, so while the instructions are being re-written, if you know how to hack already, knock yourself out. So far, all viruses listed. So many dummy viruses...

I think all of them are used.

But this isn't really the best way to hack battles. The game lets you use a message script to generate a battle with more control. I've written down the basics of it.

Go to The Square and talk to the sub chip dealer.
Go to this offset: 0203AF84
Change the byte to 0C.
Make a battle according to the format.

0x00 Generate Battle (0C)
0x01 Background
0x02 Battle Type
0x03 nothing (leave 00)
0x04 folder to use
0x05 nothing
0x06 nothing
0x07 virus to fight
0x08 nothing
0x09 music
