If you had a time machine, where and when would you go?

If i had a time machine... I would go to the future just to check out how well Obama/McCain did as a president. And go even further into the future to check out how much money I have from my Mangaka lifestyle.

How about you?
I will become the greatest Mangaka in the world. Anyone standing in my way shall be destroyed by my mighty artistic powers! From the mouth of Naruto... "Believe it!!!"

I'd go forward in time to see the winners of the kentucky derby, then I'd go down to the race track and bet money on the winner :D

EDIT: Or go back in time and prevent Randy Rhode's death.

I would not use it to change the past. I would just enjoy the best moments of my past life again.

That would be the same for me. Even though there was A LOT of bad things I did, I would not go back and change it, ever. Life is too epic to change.

Yep. The bad things that happened to me are now in the past. I have no need to change them, because if I do that, my present life may change (even if it changes for good, I would miss my normal life).

I would go to the past and stop this horrible marriage my dad and mother had. Then I wouldn't live the hell it created, nor would I exist.
I run a Mass Effect 3 modding site named ME3Tweaks.com that details how to mod ME3 as well as showcasing mods for the multiplayer aspect of the game. I also developed a mod manager utility as well as an online mod creation tool named ModMaker.

I would destroy it. Past and future aren't for humans. Past is only good, if we know it from history. Being in past one day will note tell us how (for example) WWII was looks like. If we want to know that, we must study whole 1939-1945.
I don't want remember my best moments. Because mostly they turn to bad times. Sometimes is good to forgot whole own life - good moments and bad moments. Sometimes good moments appear because of pain another humans. Is worth to remember that?

Same is for future. What You will gain, if You will know future? There is no one shared future. It's changing. Future You kniw from Your journey may be very different than future You will have after You will back. "Moving" to future may ony be good, if You will stay in it and will never back. Also there is a paradox about moving to future, back from it and the stock market crash..

And You will die with other humans. If You will back to "normal times" just before any cataclysm will appear, You will not know, if Earth will die or not. If You will wait a little longer, Your chance to die as well will be highly increased. Do You really want to waste Your nearest 4 years to see what will happen soon? Even for humans 4 years isn't big amount of time to wait.

If You will kill them, new ones will appear. Also it's sad but most of our milieu is connected each other. One of Your enemy may be also a friend of Your best friend. If You will try to eliminate Your enemies, You may cause disappearing Your frinds as well. You will be alone. If You will be...

I'd go into the past and tell myself what NOT to do, then go into the future one year and ask what not to do, then next year...and next year...

Busy plan... Remember that given thing may exist only in one given time. Unless You belive that time is just a length, like length from point A of wire to point B of that wire may be 1m long... In that case, if You will shrink time, maybe nothing bad will happen. But first You must shrink time... (that wire You may just bend...)

*going to work...*

Hmmm...maybe instead I'll save Abe Lincoln from being assassinated, and then I'll fail and die, but then another me would go back to the past BEFORE that in another alternate timeline, since nothing would have happened in that timeline, and then soon there'd be a bunch of us that save the world!! Then I go back with the surviving mes and save other people from dying, like MLK and John F Kennedy...confusing. And then when I'm done and there's only one me left, I'll see my influences on the present world. Confusing.

But then I would have never learnt to chip and folder hack.

I'd go forward and see if the guitar I'm going to get would be worth it (which I hope it will be)

That sounded very hmm... I don't know the right word, I think it's "just interest". I mean... Mgamerz's existance isn't only for writing hacking guides, if he didn't exist, the will be a lot of people affected, every people which know him. Maybe he is passing by a bad moment, and that's why he posted something like that.
(sorry if I misunderstood that, but that's the way I understood your post, Chimeran).

And @Nemo's post about "own nice moments being others' bad moments": The moments I would like to revive aren't great because of others' sufferment. I didn't intend to harm anyone at those moments (and I doubt I had done that).

I also see some posts about changing past for own profit (like being famous and/or rich). Popularity and money can't get true happiness (though they can "emulate" it so well to a point that is confusing). The love from people that cares about you is what makes you happier (at least that's my case). Also, think about being rich... you will also obtain enemies, because they will feel envy for you (there's a lot of greedy people out there), and that would not be a happy thing.

D'oh, this is such a long post.... I hope I didn't offend anyone with this, and if I did, I apologize to him/her/them.

"own nice moments being others' bad moments"

You understand me wrong. I said "Sometimes good moments appear because of pain another humans.". It's "what-happen-first" thing. From Your words, first I have pleasure, then someone have a pain. I mean otherwise. Someone's tragedy would be (or will be) my "happy day". Why in inverted commas? Not always we want others bad day. Sometimes we have no choice. We're in "happy day", because we must be in it. Even if we don't want that. We're happy and sad in the same shared time...

Oh, well... sorry. I'm not happy when someone has pain. I think that would summarize my thoughts correctly.
