Gimp can do nearly everything photoshop can do
unless you need it on a professional level it should have all your needs
and there is the fact that Gimp is free
and Photoshop cost how ever much their charging for it now unless you plan on pirating it
And Gimp is also multi platform

I agree. I'm a PS user (I didn't pay for it but it's non-pirated, I got it from my uncle who works in I.T.) but I do agree GIMP is very similar if not the same. I hate these pointless PS vs. GIMP debates.

As for your graphics, I'm a big fan of Sig #19 and Wallpaper #4. The new sig isn't too bad either.

Cool. People sometimes mistake that tutorials are only for beginners, but there are also some tutorials that can broaden the horizons of veteran graphics artists and improve skills in other styles (example: the tutorial you used).
