Start Requirements: BN6 (U) ROM (J might work, but unconfirmed)(Falzer Version tested in U. I dunno bout Gregar) TONS OF PATIENCE ![]() So, you want to have you own chips, and have stuff like that and blah blah blah... Well, this guide is going to help you hack your folder to get chips that: A: You can't normally get B: Have a value assigned to them that they are NOT a normal chip, so that they don't come up in your pack if you trade the chips. C: Don't come up in 'Have All Chips' Code. Okay, to make this a bit more simple... There's going to be a alot of pictures. Pop open Memory viewer. Also, in the game, go to your folder, and get the folder preped by putting in a bunch of useless chips, because after you overwrite them, they won't be coming back. Keep it in the edit screen. Also, save your game and do a savestate now, because if you screw up and save it, you'll be stuck with a folder you cannot edit. Now go to this address: 0202a02d For the sake of simplicity, I'm going to be doing this guide in 8 bit which seems easier. Now, your screen will look different from mine because your chip and my chip are most likely different. For the sake of things. I have changed my chip to Cannon *. ![]() Okay, so heres the deal first: The Red box there there is the chip that is first in your folder. The Blue box is the chip code. In my red box, I have 00, Which is Cannon. I also have 1A, which is * in hex. It goes 80=A, 90=Z, 9A=*. Other numbers after 1A yeild some scambled data that leads to folder corruption. Note: IF you are hacking cannon, do not set the chip code lower than 70 or you'll yeild a blank chip (most likely some sort of test chip). This will corrupt your folder. Okay, with that out of the way, what do we want to obtain? How about Dark Invis? I love that chip, it kicks so much ass. So lets get it. Beware Okay, before we even start attempting to go farther, it is recommended that we first learn what can and most likely will go wrong on your first hack of the folder. Things that can corrupt a folder: 1. Having a code that does not work with taht chip (Ex: Cannon with an L code will cause a folder to go corrupt) 2. Non existant chip. Such as blank chips, the test chip... blah blah. 3. Chips with a code out of bounds. Includes chips codes between 1b-7f and 9b-ff. That's the first part. This is what happens if a corrupt chip is in your folder: ![]() and when you exit it: ![]() And the message you get when you try to edit it: ![]() ^^ Which makes the game stop responding (Not freeze, just forcing a reset). If you t make a save, you'll have to do it over again or get a new save, just not use that folder, using folder1. Also, if you don't try to re-edit the folder, and go into battle with a invalid chip, it'll come up as a blank chip with no code, pretty much making hacking the chip a waste of time. Makes great Charge Chips for F/G Beast though. To fix this, all valid chips have at least 1 chip code. Try going through all of them to see if they show up. If a code appears next their name in the list, it'll become valid again. 1A and 9A are asterisk codes, and most J only chips work with these. Hacking the chip into another chip Okay, here's the scary part. On my cannon chip, 00, it's 00 for Cannon. What's 01 make? M-Cannon? WTF? What about Hi-Cannon? Ha! The chip code 80 is A for the upper half of the chip. The lower half, 00-1A, makes it the chip before that higher chip, HI Cannon! So once you put 7f as a code, you'll get a blank code. Put 80, and you'll get an A code of the next chip! ![]() Equals this: ![]() Okay, Now chips values. 00-62 normally, with alternating High and Low chip codes. When you get to 63, only high chip codes work for some reason, the low ones give you a blank cannon chip that does nothing, but doesn't corrupt your folder. Useless. 6E on the low value is the start of Megachips, on the high end, is roll. Then we start to alternernate again high and low. Ending the megachips, with Django3 on 8C low code, we start the really fun stuff, the japanese only chips. We start with the buster editing chips, which edit your gun, such as punch arm, needle arm, and puzzarm. These alternate up and down with 8C high. Now, a strange chip, 8E high and low both yield a SyncTrigger chip. The Low end one does not work and is not considered a megachip. It's name screws up the rest of the names of the chips in your folder, so don't use the low end. The other end works fine, so use that one. ![]() DarkChips, Arm Chips, and leftover/mostly non US chips (excluding Django and Otenko), have no desciption. Never fear, these won't corrupt your folder. Now, I'll make a list as I know most people are looking for these: The top of the pair is with the code of asterisk (1A), and the bottom is * (9A) 8F=DarkSword * DarkThun * 90=DarkRecov* DarkInvis * (^_^) 91=DarkPlus * (end of chip data is overwritten, error correction features makes the chip go poof, but you still get a bug) Data overwrites area here. 91-96(Low) are you friendly backstabbers. They'll corrupt your folder, and not to mention, do absolutely nothing! ![]() 96, High end (High end is code of 80 or higher, remember?), is the start of GIGA chips. Looks like they had a few ideas for more chips, huh? You don't see blank space anywhere else save the end of standard chips. The Giga Chips end with 9E High end, Falzer(preceeded by griega), both which don't work. Then it's followed by a blank chip of 1 damage, which does nothing. I think it also corrupts your folder. Then, 9D high end, is the start of crossover chips. The desciptions are A: Screwed up Or B: Right, and Crossover battles are really wacked I think it's A, because bat can 2 and 3 sure don't look like ZapRing or swords (Shoot batcannons, which versions 1-3 are the same as v1, a cannon chip with a different sprite) 9D high through 9F high are batcannons. Bat cannon 4 is only available in the Z code. These cannon chips have certain codes, so if you use them, please post the code and I'll put them here. Bat Cannon 4 shoots 3 cannons, that all hit, and the last one makes the enemy invisible for a short time. Now, here's a weird chip. 9F high, a giga chip, Beastout. It does absolutely nothing except screw up, and comes in *. I recommend not having this chip unless for show. (Makes emotion window dissapear) Now, here's a good memory device! A0 (low), is the start of PAs. They all work with * codes, and the last one is Crossover(9E High), a PA that was coming to america but didn't make it. The things after this are just tattered chips, few which work. Most are just blank leftover chips. There are a few goodies, such as Icecube and Z-Saver, which both work(Icecube has wrong description and Z-Saver has no description(I think) I don't remember their values. If you find them, please tell me and I'll post them here) ![]() This chip is just for show, it's a controller chip. The way the game is setup, enemies use chips too, sometimes they don't show you. This is the counts bloodrain chip, and it won't corrupt your folder, but it doesn't work. The thumbnail is there though. Hacking the rest of the chips in the folder Now that we've covered the hacking of the chips, lets get on with hacking chip 2 and on. Once you learn how the format of chip and code is, it's really easy actually. ![]() The different colors on the first 2 lines show the first chip we just hacked. The others below, when using the address I provided, show the code and chip. 2 lines below each chip value is the next chip value, and the same for the code on the other side. When you hack all the way down, double check your folder for errors. If there are none, back out of editing, and scroll though your folder to see if there are blank spots. Blank spots are corrupted/invalid chips. Just reload your save (or state). Extra Chips: Code:9A Chip Value: BE Chip: Z-Saver It works too! I've edited mine to read how I think it should: ![]() When you first hack it, it will say Z Saver, and the description: Add an effect: Blind . The 3 chips after that will not work, as there is no chip code assigned to them. If we can assign a code to them, then we might be able to get them to work. There's a chip called FinalGun, and it doesn't work. That pretty much covers it! When you get to vales like D0 for chip, you'll get link navi chips. Sure, they look strong by the numbers, but they don't work, even if you are the link navi. It makes teh game freeze. Going past these chips yeilds data taht isn't chip, and you'll get game freezes and the oh so lovely screams of freezing. Thanks for reading! Please comment, and post any questions you have. Edit: Here's that blank at the close end of standard chips: ![]() You can see bigbomb's desciption there, but you don't see the next ones. Those must be the blank ones. |

I find it easier to do that in 16-bit mode. And maybe an address back. Going to the next line is a bit inconvenient. |

No, because I didn't think that they were important, they kind of just emulate a Cannon chip. They are pretty worthless. I'm thinking of using Translexation to fix Icecubes Desciption, and see what else is there. |
